Fire Doors

Fire doors serve two important functions. When closed, they create a barrier to prevent fire and smoke from spreading. They are also a means of escape when evacuation of a building is necessary.

There are two main categories of fire door – FD30 and FD60 doors, which offer 30 and 60 minutes’ fire protection respectively.

When you book a Holder Fire fire safety audit, we will inspect existing fire doors to ensure they meet current standards for compliance. If modifications or updates are required, this can often be carried out with minimal expense, ensuring maximum protection from the devastating consequences of fire.

As well as the doors themselves, clear signage is required to ensure they’re used correctly. But despite the ‘Keep Shut’ signs that must be fixed to fire doors, it’s worrying how often the message can be ignored. Part of our service here at Holder Fire is to offer fire awareness training to businesses and organisations, educating people on the dangers of propping open fire doors to cool down a room on a hot day, or blocking them with office clutter.

We’ve streamlined our fire door inspection process with the help of pioneering new software developed by Dokkit. The risk assessment apps save time for Holder Fire engineers – efficiencies that can be passed on to provide even better value for our customers.
